DESCRIPTION:Swimming may be over for this year\, but there is still another chance to get together with your Holmes Run Pool friends at this festive gathering celebrating the Autumn season. Chefs Jim Wright\, Mark Sites\, and their trusty pit crew will lovingly smoke and slow roast a whole pig on site overnight. Savor the succulent barbecue with vegetarian sides including chili\, mac and cheese\, baked beans\, and coleslaw all homemade by Seena Polivy and Laura Champe Mitchell. Children are invited to decorate a mini-pumpkin that they can take home with them and all are encouraged to participate in or spectate at a three-legged race! So come\, enjoy some excellent barbecue\, catch the three-legged race\, indulge in dessert\, or just take in the vibe of the evening\, all in the good company of friends and neighbors at this favorite annual event.

SUMMARY:Midsummer Gala (ADULT)
DESCRIPTION:A most delightful Crab Feast Dinner and Dance!\nWhy drive all the way up to Baltimore for a crab feast when you can attend one right here at the pool with all of your friends and neighbors? Holmes Run Pool hosted its first crab feast around 2006 or so\, the exact year is unknown it was so long ago. This community gathering was so enjoyed that it became an annual event and is now a longstanding tradition that members eagerly await every summer. In fact\, it is such a well attended event that members are reputed to have put away up to 15 bushels of crabs! \nOn Saturday\, August 10\, all-you-can-eat Maryland Blue Crabs\, steamed shrimp\, BBQ chicken and ribs\, sides\, and dessert will be served along with beer and wine. After dinner\, our local teens will put on an amazing DJ performance featuring beach music across the decades. They’ll take requests from those in attendance and will\, as always\, finish the evening with the song “Rock you like a hurricane.” So come join us for this midsummer’s feast and\, once you’ve had your fill\, dance the night away or swim by the light of the moon. \nTicket Info: Tickets are on sale until Tuesday\, August 6. They are $50 for members and $60 for non-member guests. Discounted tickets and reserved tables are available for volunteers. Check the newsletter in the weeks preceding this event for a link to purchase tickets. \nAttendee Info: This event is open to members and their non-member guests. All attendees must be aged 21+. No exceptions will be made to the age restriction. \nCheck-in: Attendees should arrive between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Please be on time so that our volunteer Ticket Managers can also enjoy the party! If you must be late\, please use the Contact Us form (Attn: Activities\, Subject: Midsummer Gala) to let us know. \nWeather Policy: As with any outdoor summer party\, there is a chance that rain or storms will interrupt our event. While there are no refunds for weather interruptions or cancellations\, we will do everything we can to reopen and have a great evening\, even if storms happen. DESCRIPTION:Are you a fanatic for fun facts? Assemble your dream team and head down to the pool to show off those trivia skills. Questions will span a wide variety of categories: from Elvis to Olivia Rodrigue\, from Kahlo to Feynman\, from Patton to Zelenskyy\, and from the Scoville scale to the Richter scale so multigenerational teams whose players have wide interests may have an edge. If you don’t have a team\, come down anyway and we’ll do our best to match you with another partner or two. Teams can be 2-4 players of any age (max on any team is 4). The Grand Prize winning team will win free tickets to the Fall Pig Roast. It’s no fun playing on an empty stomach so\, of course\, tacos will be served!  We will offer a beef\, chicken and vegetarian taco bar with Mexican rice and coleslaw\, plus all the toppings\, including Laura’s famous homemade guacamole. DESCRIPTION:Swimming may be over for this year\, but there is still another chance to get together with your Holmes Run Pool friends at this festive gathering celebrating the Fall season. Mark your calendar so you don’t miss this favorite annual event. \n\n\nFood: There will be plenty to eat\, including slow roasted pig lovingly grilled on site all day by our own member chef\, Jim Wright with the assistance of HRARA president Mark Sites. Homemade vegetarian chili\, mac-n-cheese\, baked beans\, slaw\, and apple crisp will also be served along with apple cider. The long range forecast — just out today — is calling for a beautiful evening though! Guests are welcome to bring popup canopies in case of rain. If there are storms\, we will follow our standard policy of closing the facility until 30 minutes past the last sound of thunder. While there are no refunds for weather interruptions or cancellations\, we will do everything we can to reopen and have a great evening\, even if storms happen.
