Sat, August 13 @ 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Dance the night away, swim by the light of the moon, and feast on crabs, shrimp, chicken, ribs, sides, dessert, wine, beer, and more! This event is open to members and their guests.
ALL attendees MUST be over the age of 21.
Tickets are on sale until Tuesday, August 9. We may have a limited number of tickets available after that date but there are no guarantees. Contact Seena directly (see organizer info below) if you miss the August 9 deadline.
We need and appreciate your help! Volunteers enjoy a discounted ticket and reserved table seating of their choice.
A special note about the weather. As with any outdoor summer party, there is a chance that rain or storms will interrupt our event. Guests are welcome to bring popup canopies in case of rain. If there are storms, we will follow our standard policy of closing the facility until 30 minutes past the last sound of thunder. While there are no refunds for weather interruptions or cancellations, we will do everything we can to reopen and have a great evening, even if storms happen. We will also have “to go boxes” to take home your fill of food if need be.
Note to the general membership. The picnic grounds, grills, playground, and all picnic decks will close at 2 PM in order to set up for this event.
Sat, August 20 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
The annual meeting of the Holmes Run Acres Recreation Association (HRARA) shareholders will be held at the pool in the evening on Saturday, August 20, 2022. All members are invited and encourage to attend. Even if you’ve never attended before, please come! You will have a chance to hear from the Board about the season and more. In what may be as fun as grilling steaks at the pool, you will have the opportunity to grill our Board of Directors about what they have been up to and learn about future plans. A complimentary light dinner will be served following the meeting for all who attend, and we will be showing a family movie on the lawn after dinner.
Sat, August 20 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Pull up a lawn chair and watch a family friendly movie with family and friends!
Tue, August 23 @ 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Redefining the ingredients of the Persian cuisine is a daunting task on its own. Coupled with making it wholly fresh while packing authentic flavors of Persia is a challenge that not many can master. It’s a process that takes years of practice, discovery and refinement to perfect. Over these past two decades, Chef Kamran Khajavi made a clever art of it, creating indulgent flavors and textures that delight all senses. Chef Kamran also pushes boundaries, forges new tastes to combine the fresh and new with the traditional. Peppery, smokey, really succulent and charbroiled to perfection, his creations makes a strong argument for higher consideration among classic Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines, combined with some popular American grubs.
It certainly is a treat to have a very passionate take to Persian cuisine, but the dream was made to reality when Nomz Truck was born, a gourmet Persian food truck now proudly satisfying cravings throughout the DMV apartment complexes and neighborhoods as home cooking becomes stale during the global pandemic.
The frequent use of fresh green herbs and vegetables in all Nomz’s food made them a healthy flavorful choice for its patrons. Nomz’s scrumptious dishes are exquisitely curated using authentic Persian herbs, amazing sauces, fresh vegetables and beautiful quality of Basmati rice along with the best cuts of Halal meat, lamb or chicken, with exotic spices (like Saffron, Turmeric, Cardamom, Cloves and Cinnamon) reminiscent of the old trade routes that passed through the Persian Empire.
Chef Kamran takes the finest ingredients and combines them with expertise in preparation and cooking traditional food- creating delightful Persian cuisine for everyone to enjoy and crave again and again. From crisp invigorating summer delights, to more sultry and nourishing flavors in the Fall and Winter season, Chef Kamran put together the most loved recipes to inspire and enchant!

Here are a few important things to know…
Photo IDs are Required for Admission
Photo IDs are required for entry to the pool facility. Save time at check-in and upload your own photo (just a headshot – no hats or sunglasses, please) to your HRARA Membership Account. If you are unable to upload your photo, you may send it to the Membership Coordinator or plan to have it taken the first day you come to the pool.
Youth ages 11-17 are allowed to come to the pool alone as long as the parent member agrees to HRARA’s unaccompanied minor policy. To complete the necessary form, Login to Your Profile through the pool website (not the esoft system). Select ‘minor’ on the gray tab and complete the necessary form. Both parent and child need to agree to the policies. Children who do not have this form completed will not be allowed to be on pool property without a parent or guardian present. Those age 14 or older may be designated as a babysitter in charge of other children. (NOTE: A new Unaccompanied Minor form must be filled out at the beginning of each season.)
Parking at the Pool
The weather has been perfect for pool season and our facility is busier than ever. Please remember to drive slowly in the parking lot and watch for small children. If the lot is full, parking is available on neighborhood streets including Executive Avenue and Hemlock Avenue. From Hemlock, you may walk behind Woodburn Elementary School, pass the playground, tennis courts and field and take the path through the woods to the pool property.
Every hour, the pool observes a 10-minute break time when swimmers ages 15 and under must exit the pool completely. Please remind your children to observe break time by sitting on the lounge chairs or enjoying the pool grounds. Children are not allowed to sit at the edge of the pool or keep their feet in the water as a safety precaution.
Swimmers 16 and over are welcome to stay in the pool during break time. If a lifeguard asks a swimmer to observe break time, please comply with the request. If there is a disagreement regarding the age of the swimmer, please have the swimmer confirm their age at the pool house.
