Group Swim Lessons

Are you looking for a group swim class for your child? Two fun-filled classes are offered at Holmes Run Pool.

Swim Lesson Offerings

Parent & Paddler (6 mo to 4 yrs)
Parent & Paddler lessons are for the youngest swimmers and require a parent to be in the water with their child. Children and parents learn water safety skills, water adjustment, and basic swimming strategies. Meet other parents and children of similar ages from our pool community!

Learn to Swim (3 to 7 yrs)
Children old enough to separate from their parents can sign up for Learn to Swim lessons. Children will be instructed in basic water safety, how to float in the water, submerge face under water, kick, and begin arm strokes.

Location

Lessons are in the Upper Pool, in the lane near the pool steps. For Learn to Swim classes, parents may choose to observe from the chairs on the pool deck, but younger swimmers may focus better when their parent or guardian is not nearby. So in some cases, it's best to give your swimmer and instructor some space. Safety is a top priority. A lifeguard is always guarding the Upper Pool during lessons.

Private Swim Lessons

One-on-one lessons are available at Holmes Run Pool! Whether you are just starting out as a new swimmer or want help to improve your performance in swim meets, our swim instructors can help.

Choosing a Swim Instructor

HRARA instructors vary in age, experience, and style. When selecting an instructor for private lessons, please consider your specific goals (basic flotation and comfort in the water, encouragement to learn swim strokes, or refining technique and efficiency for experienced swimmers). Rates are dependent on instructor training and experience.

LEVEL 3 swim instructors, although relatively new to swim instruction, are skilled swimmers who have gained much of their experience competing on the Hurricanes swim team. They are a great choice for young children who love the water and are excited to learn how to swim.

LEVEL 2 swim instructors are an excellent choice for any type of student of any age. Older and more seasoned than Level 3 instructors, they have extensive experience teaching and are certified in AED, CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding.

LEVEL 1 swim instructors are our most experienced swim instructor. They are wonderful for beginner level swim students who need a little extra support or advanced swimmers looking to improve their performance and gain a competitive edge.

Schedule

Swim lessons run from June 17 through August 20.

Lessons are offered all day during the week and in the afternoon on weekends. However, there is limited availability during the pool's busy period from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on weekdays and weekends.

To schedule a lesson during this time (5-6:30 pm), please select any lesson labeled "peak hours."
